India's first overseas Jan Aushadi Kendra was opened in Mauritius by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, showcasing "close" bilateral cooperation, especially in the crucial health sector. One of the first nations Jaishankar visited while serving as External Affairs Minister was Mauritius, where he spent two days from June 16 to 17.
He launched India's first overseas Jan Aushadi Kendra on Wednesday alongside Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, "testifying to the close cooperation between our countries, especially in the important sector of health," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. The goal of Jan Aushadhi Kendras is to make affordable generic drugs available to everyone.

A cutting-edge medical facility in Grand Bois that was built with Indian grant assistance was also dedicated on Wednesday by Prime Minister Jugnauth and Jaishankar. Jaishankar referred to the Mediclinic as the "newest expression of our friendship".
